Sir Paul was already slated to play Tokyo Dome on April 27, April 29 and April 30, and on April 25 he will also play at Nippon Budokan Arena, the site of the first and only Beatles shows in Japan back in the summer of 1966.

In a statement, McCartney said, "The Budokan is such a special venue for me. I have amazing memories from first visiting in the 60s and then again on our last tour. I was already excited to be returning to Japan, but with the news of the three Dome shows selling out and now this extra date, I can't wait to get back with the band and celebrate."

Tickets for the Budokan show range from 40,000 yen ($347) to 100,000 yen ($860). Advance ticket reservations are going on now through March 20. General onsales begin April 8 at 10 a.m.

The Japan excursion marks McCartney's first performances of 2017.
